A man in tall Cavalier boots and a Persian coat stands front and center in this Claire Avery illustration, which appeared in the March 15, 1925, Vogue. This look, complete with sash and plumed hat, was popular with courtiers of King Charles II of England. This horse-friendly ensemble was most likely the de rigueur uniform for hunting and other outdoor activities.
