Leo Cullum is a recently retired airline pilot who started cartooning in 1971 while on a temporary furlough and sold his first cartoon to the Air Line Pilots Association’s magazine. Cullum's first New Yorker cartoon was published in 1977, and fans of his anthropomorphized animals and office humor have enjoyed his contributions to the magazine ever since.
